And She Came Down
Artwork by Messiah
She came down from the precipice.
She didn’t want to fly.
She wanted to ground.
So she came down.
At times paralyzed in fear at what lay below
She came down.
At times numbing out to avoid the feeling
She came down.
Her desire to know shook her to the core,
An earthquake tore her open
Fragments spread on her shore.
She picked up a conch shell
And put it to her ear
Life purred so close, it comforted her.
So she stayed down.
Body hugging the ground.
A million trillion insect’s primordial buzz surrounding.
